On Friday, an adult male leopard was rescued by a forest team from the ONGC residential campus in Sivasagar district, Assam. The leopard was spotted in the complex on Thursday night and a team was quickly dispatched to the scene.
After being tranquilized, the leopard was taken for a health check-up and then released into the Panidihing Reserve Forest. This came the same day that another leopard that had caused panic in villages near Manas National Park was captured and released back into the wild.
