Guwahati : Eight persons who were part of a marriage group died in a road accident when their car hit a stationary truck on NH-15 at Gelabill under Orang police station in Udalguri district of lower Assam in the wee hours of Wednesday, police said.
The car hit the vegetable loaded truck killing the eight men on the spot as they were travelling from Baihata in Kamrup district after attending a marriage to Tezpur in Sonitpur district, police said. The deceased hailing from Tezpur
have been identified as Diganta Saikia, Rinku Saikia, Ranjit Deka, Partha Puri, Narayan Das, Tinku Bora and Kamal Dev Nath, while eighth person is yet to be named.
Prior to this road accident another accident had occured at the same place for which vehicles were stoped, police added.
Sources said all eight persons were friends of groom Nayan Bora hailing from Tezpur town’s Borjhar gaon area and worked together at a hotel in Tezpur Mission Chariali area.
