ASSAM TIMES POST
New Delhi: As per the affidavit filed by Prateek Hajela, state coordinator of implementation of National Register of Citizenship (NRC) in the context of Assam, the Supreme Court on Friday directed the Centre and the state government to transfer him to Madhya Pradesh for the maximum period. The direction comes apparently on account of threat perceptions to Hajela. A special bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and justices SA Bobde and RF Nariman ordered inter-cadre transfer of Hajela on deputation. Hajela had overseen the mammoth exercise of finalization and publication of Assam NRC. The final NRC was released on August 31 with 19,06,657 of the total 3,30,27,661 applicants excluded. It to be mention that on Friday SC take hearing of a petition which was filed by Assam Public Works (APW) regarding 100% re verification of NRC which was published on last August of this year.
