Diphu, Oct 11 A cancer care hospital will be established at Diphu in Karbi Anglong hill district of Assam by the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council under the joint aegis of Assam Government and Tata Trust, official sources said here on Friday.
Karbi Anglong Autonous Council (KAAC) Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang met Chief Executive Officer and many high level officer of Tata Trust at New Delhi on Wednesday for setting up of the proposed cancer care hospital specially to benefit economically backward people, the sources said.
The CEM urged the Tata Trust officials to establish the hospital this year so that the people of the hill district will be benefited at the earliest to receive sophisticated medical treatment at low cost, they said.
In the meeting, they also discussed about how to reduce the rate of death due to cancer and the number of cancer affected people through public awareness and detection at the initial stage.
