A team of Delhi Police Crime Branch arrived at the Tablighi Jamaat Markaz in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area on Sunday.According to news agency ANI, members of this team are investigating the Islamic organisation after a staggering number of its members who attended a religious congregation at the Markaz in March of this year tested positive for the novel corona virus in multiple states across India.
More than 2,300 people were evacuated from the Markaz in Nizamuddin on April 1 by the Delhi Police. A probe was subsequently launched into the organisation, its members and prior gatherings. A detailed questionnaire was also sent to the chief, Maulana Saad. In a letter to the Delhi Police Crime Branch, the Markaz chief claimed that he is under self-quarantine and the Markaz is locked.
