Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic fire incident at Gulzar House in Hyderabad, Telangana, which claimed 17 lives. In a recent social media post, he announced an ex gratia payment of two lakh rupees from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the families of each deceased, while injured victims will receive 50 thousand rupees each as assistance.

The Telangana state government has also stepped in, offering five lakh rupees to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the fire. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka made this announcement following his visit to the Osmania General Hospital, where the bodies are being held. Furthermore, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to ensure all necessary aid is provided to the affected individuals and families.
The tragedy occurred this morning when a fire broke out in a ground-plus-two-storey building in the Gulzar House area, situated near the historic Charminar. Among the deceased are eight children and six women.
According to the state’s Director General of Police, Dr. Jitender, initial investigations suggest a short circuit may have been the cause of the fire. Sadly, eight people were reported to have succumbed to smoke inhalation, while others died from their injuries during treatment.
Union Coal Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy also visited the site of the incident, promising full support to the affected families as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.
