The Nagaon police thwarted a dangerous robbery plan on the national highway. Thanks to the quick action of the Nagaon police, they were able to apprehend a group of armed robbers. The vigilance of the Nagaon police ensured the safety of the residents of Nagaon.

It is noteworthy that the district administration is experiencing heightened activity due to the recent by-election and vote counting in a constituency of the city. However, some nefarious groups are taking advantage of this situation. Certain criminal elements are planning to reactivate their operations in the district.
On Monday evening, a notorious criminal gang from Samguri and Rupahihat in the town was preparing to commit a robbery at a location in the district using three vehicles. After sunset, the gang, equipped with various weapons, had set out with their three vehicles in the Nagaon district. However, the Nagaon police had already received information about the gang’s plan in advance.
Based on the information received by the Nagaon police, a strategy was devised to thwart the plans of the gang of robbers. Under the direction of Nagaon Superintendent of Police Swapnaneel Deka, a team led by Additional Superintendent of Police Jayanta Barah began an operation in the evening.
Following this, the police team was positioned in plain clothes at the petrol pump on the Uriagaon Bypass during the night. The gang of robbers entered the petrol pump together in three vehicles. Immediately, the police team in civilian attire sprang into action to seize the three vehicles.
The police team was able to seize one vehicle from the petrol pump, although the team was unable to capture two other vehicles that fled the scene. However, later on, the police managed to chase down and seize another vehicle from Samaguri. As of now, the police have not been able to find any trace of the remaining vehicle.
The police team managed to apprehend two vehicles and three individuals during the night. After questioning, the police in Nagaon arrested the three suspects—Jeharul Islam, Amir Hamza, and Hafiz Bhuyan—from the Samguri and Rupahihat areas on Tuesday morning. The police were also able to seize a significant number of weapons from the vehicles of the arrested suspects. Jayanta Borah, the additional police superintendent of Nagaon’s crime branch, informed the media about this over the phone.
