During routine checks, police halted an Alto car with the registration number AS-14E-9137, which was traveling from Dimapur to Manja. A thorough search of the vehicle uncovered cleverly hidden drugs within the car’s structure, specifically in the upper interior part beneath the windshield—a typical smuggling technique to avoid detection at traffic stops. The search led to the discovery of 20 bundles of blue-colored tablets, totaling 200 strips or 40,000 YABA tablets, weighing 4.120 kilograms. YABA, known as the “madness drug,” contains methamphetamine and caffeine and is highly addictive with severe health risks.
The operation was supervised by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Bokajan, with independent witnesses present to ensure transparency and compliance with legal standards. The seized items, including the vehicle, were carefully packaged and sealed in front of witnesses and Government Officials to preserve the integrity of the evidence for future legal action.
The arrested individuals were identified as Md Islam Uddin, the 34-year-old driver, and Musstt Mujiba Begum, a 43-year-old passenger. Both are currently in custody, with legal proceedings being prepared against them, highlighting a significant effort to combat drug trafficking in the area.
