Guwahati : Three persons, including a woman, died and seven others seriously injured in a road accident involving a truck and an auto-van in Mangaldoi district of lower Assam on Tuesday night, police officials said.
The accident victims were traveling in the mini van when it had a head-on collision with the truck on National Highway 15 at Sarkar Chowk near Mangaldoi town killing three of them on the spot, the officials said. The injured were admitted to Mangaldoi Civil Hospital which referred three seriously wounded to Gauhati Medical College Hospital for advanced medical treatment, they said.
Stating the deceased and the injured were daily wage earners returning home in the auto-van, the officials said the three dead were identified as Amina Begum, Rafiqul Islam and Saiful Islam.
Investigations are on.
