A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday afternoon when three youths drowned in the Dikhu River near the Longleng-Changtongya bridge. The victims, aged between 19 and 22, were part of a picnic group from PWD Ward in Changtongya town, Mokokchung district.

According to sources, the unfortunate event occurred around 12:30 pm when a makeshift boat they were using capsized during a rafting attempt. Despite nearby efforts to save them, the rapid current swept the trio away before rescuers could reach them.
By evening, local villagers were able to recover the bodies of the three victims, identified as Ajidong (21), Imtimeren (22), and Imnatila (19). Friends and family later held a funeral service in PWD Ward, Changtongya town, at 6:30 pm on the same day to mourn the tragic loss.
In an unrelated incident, the Indian Red Cross Society, Nagaland State Branch, led by General Secretary Akhale V Khamo, continues to provide relief efforts for families affected by recent fire incidents in Dimapur.
