
In a significant drug bust, Manipur Police have arrested four individuals for allegedly smuggling brown sugar with intentions to transport it to Assam via Nagaland. The operation unfolded in the Senapati district, which borders Nagaland to the north. Acting on precise intelligence, officers raided a residence in Chiphaodai village, leading to the discovery of 150 soap cases filled with suspected brown sugar. The total weight of the seized narcotic, including the packaging, summed up to 5.87 kilograms and holds an estimated international market value of about Rs 11 crores.

The raid was conducted at the home of N Sohrii, 40, located in Chiphaodai village near Khabung Karong, under the jurisdiction of the Senapati Police Station. The police successfully apprehended four suspects during the operation. Those arrested have been identified as Khovi, 27, Raivikho, 23, Lovi, 24, and Veipoukho, 23. The authorities have registered a case and are proceeding with further investigations to dissect the network and logistics behind the smuggling operation.
