On Monday, an explosion at a firecracker factory in Viragalur village, Ariyalur tragically led to the death of nine people and the injury of several others. In response to the emergency, a fire and rescue team arrived on the scene and managed to save eight people with severe injuries, who have been transported to the Ariyalur Government Hospital for treatment.

Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed his condolences to the grieving families and allocated a sum of Rs 3 lakh for the families of those who had been killed, as well as Rs 1 lakh for those receiving medical attention. He also ordered Transport Minister SS Sivasankar and Labour Minister CV Ganesan to oversee the rescue efforts.
