At least 22 children fainted during an Independence Day parade celebration in Assam’s Morigaon district on Tuesday due to the intense heat. The incident occurred while the children were participating in the parade march. The high temperatures overwhelmed them, causing dizziness as the District Commissioner, Devashish Sharma, was delivering his speech as the chief guest.

All the affected students were promptly taken to the Morigaon civil hospital for treatment. According to an officer, the students are currently receiving additional medical care and are in stable condition. However, parents claimed that there was a lack of available ambulances, and they had to rush most of the children to the hospital themselves.
It has been reported that the event organizers failed to make proper arrangements, such as providing facilities for participants to cool off and have access to drinking water in order to combat the heatwave.
