According to police sources, the seizure took place during a regular naka checking exercise at the State Bank of India checkpoint under Khatkhati Police Station. Officers flagged down a truck traveling from Manipur towards Bokajan and, upon inspection, discovered the illegal substance carefully concealed inside the vehicle\u2019s cabin. The truck, bearing registration number PB-11-CB-7556, was reportedly being used to transport the narcotics across state lines.<\/span><\/p>\n

Officials revealed that the seized poppy straw was packed in four separate plastic packets, collectively weighing 1 kilogram and 36 grams. The strategic concealment suggested a deliberate attempt to bypass law enforcement, indicating the possible involvement of a larger supply network. The swift detection underscores the vigilance and preparedness of the Khatkhati police personnel on duty.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the operation, police apprehended two individuals believed to be directly involved in the transportation of the illegal substance. The arrested persons have been identified as Jagtar Singh, aged 40, son of Puran Singh, hailing from Kalaram Samana Mandi under Samana Police Station in Patiala district of Punjab, and Gurpreet Singh, aged 31, son of the late Pargat Singh, from Bhullarheri under Sadar Dhuri Police Station in Punjab\u2019s Sangrur district. Both suspects are currently in police custody as further investigations continue.<\/span><\/p>\n

Authorities are now probing potential links between the accused and broader narcotics distribution networks, with efforts underway to trace the origin of the seized poppy straw and identify any accomplices.
