The operation unfolded when police personnel stationed at the Manja naka point stopped a motorcycle on suspicion. Upon inspection, the officers discovered multiple soap cases packed with heroin, a method increasingly favored by traffickers attempting to smuggle narcotics discreetly across state borders. The seized consignment was immediately taken into custody, marking one of the significant drug interceptions in the region this month.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Manja Police Station\u2019s Officer-in-Charge, Shraban Ingti, the operation was conducted on the basis of specific intelligence inputs pointing to a fresh consignment heading toward the western part of Karbi Anglong. Ingti noted that the information was credible enough to trigger an intensified checking drive, ultimately leading to the interception of the suspects.<\/span><\/p>\n

The arrested individuals have been identified as Uttam Kumar Chauhan and Suman Dahal, both residents of Kheroni in West Karbi Anglong. Preliminary interrogation suggests that the duo reportedly travelled to Dimapur, a known transit point for narcotics, to procure the heroin. They were allegedly transporting the illegal substance back to Kheroni with the intention of selling it in local markets.<\/span><\/p>\n

The incident underscores the persistent challenges faced by Police in curbing the flow of drugs along the Dimapur\u2013Karbi Anglong route. Over the past few years, Dimapur has emerged as a notorious hub for narcotics distribution, with traffickers exploiting porous borders and remote roads to transport contraband into Assam.<\/span><\/p>\n
