In a heartfelt move, Tuliram Ronghang<\/a>, Chief Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, presented monetary assistance amounting to \u20b95 lakh each to the families of two individuals who lost their lives in Kheroni, West Karbi Anglong district.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Clashes broke out in the reserved PGR-VGR land areas of Karbi Anglong .Chief Executive\u2019s Powerful Pledge of \u20b95 Lakh Compensation to Families of Martyrsand West Karbi Anglong districts after a group of activists launched a hunger strike demanding eviction of illegal encroachers. The protest spiraled out of control, leading to violent attacks and arson targeting homes and business establishments in Kheroni<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"During the accident , Suraj De, a specially-abled individual, was tragically burned alive by rioters. Police intervened to restore order, which led to the shooting death of protestor Late Linus Phangcho. The violent encounter also resulted in injuries to top police officials including the DGP and IGP. Currently, law enforcement and paramilitary forces are maintaining strict control over the area.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the wake of these distressing events, Tuliram Ronghang expressed deep sorrow and extended financial aid to the bereaved families. The compensation cheques were officially handed over to the relatives of Late Linus Phangcho and Suraj De and Smt. Kamona Engtipi and Shri Mukulal Dey, respectively signifying the council\u2019s commitment to support those affected. Late Linus Phangcho and Suraj Dey<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe loss of these two precious lives during the land dispute protests deeply saddens me,\u201d Ronghang stated. \u201cAlthough monetary compensation can never replace human life, this support aims to stand by the families in this difficult hour, showcasing solidarity and empathy from the community.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Ronghang appealed to all sections of society to maintain peace, patience, and harmony amidst the turmoil. He emphasized the need for dialogue, mutual understanding, and responsible action rather than violence, which only deepens wounds and delays solutions.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAt this painful moment, I urge everyone to uphold the principles of law, peace, and development in Karbi Anglong,\u201d he added. \u201cLet us unite with a spirit of cooperation and compassion to ensure lasting harmony and progress for our society.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
