Rakkam later posted a video of the encounter, showing angry protestors gesturing for him to turn back. \u201cEven my vehicle was not allowed to proceed. Somehow managed by Assam police,\u201d he stated, confirming that he narrowly escaped the blockade.<\/span><\/p>\n

This incident occurs amid ongoing protests by the All Khasi Meghalaya Tourist Taxi Association (AKMTTA), which is pushing for a ban on Assam tourist taxis transporting visitors to Meghalaya\u2019s well-known attractions. The group\u2019s tough stance has already sparked resentment on both sides of the border.<\/span><\/p>\n

In response to the mounting conflict, Rakkam urged for calm, stating, \u201cBoth associations need to find an amicable solution through dialogue; otherwise, people from both sides will suffer.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the state government has maintained its usual strategy, instructing the AKMTTA to engage with a high-level committee led by the Chief Secretary.
