Prime Minister Narendra Modi<\/span><\/strong><\/a> laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects in Churachandpur, Manipur, on September 13. This event reaffirmed the Central Government\u2019s commitment to advancing development in the Northeastern state.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Advancing Manipur on the Path to Prosperity:<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Modi began a two-day tour of the states of Mizoram, Manipur, and Assam, arriving in Churachandpur, an area predominantly inhabited by the Kuki community, to engage with local communities affected by recent ethnic violence.<\/span><\/p>\n

This visit is significant as it marks Modi\u2019s first trip to Manipur since the outbreak of ethnic violence in May 2023. The development projects initiated during this trip are valued at over Rs 7,300 crore. Among these projects are the Manipur Urban Roads, Drainage and Asset Management Improvement Project, worth over Rs 3,600 crore; five National Highway projects exceeding Rs 2,500 crore; the Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project; and the establishment of Working Women\u2019s Hostels at nine sites.<\/span><\/p>\n

During his visit, Modi interacted with students who welcomed him with portraits. Addressing the gathering, he remarked, \u201cManipur is the land of courage and determination. These hills are a priceless gift of nature, and they symbolize your continuous hard work.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He expressed gratitude to the people for enduring the heavy rain to meet him, stating, \u201cDue to the heavy rainfall, my helicopter was not able to fly, and I decided to come by road. What I witnessed during that journey, I am truly thankful that I did not choose to come from a helicopter today. The sight of youth and elderly residents of Manipur carrying the Tricolour is a moment I will never forget, and I bow down to the people here.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Modi emphasized his government\u2019s dedication to propelling Manipur forward in its development journey. He noted, \u201cThe traditions and culture of this region reflect India\u2019s strength. Moreover, the name \u2018Manipur\u2019 contains \u2018Mani\u2019, symbolizing a jewel that will enhance the entire Northeast in the times to come.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Highlighting the impact of the launched projects, he stated, \u201cThese initiatives will improve the lives of people, especially the tribal communities living in the hills of Manipur. They will provide new facilities in health and education. I congratulate the people of Manipur for this.\u201d He stressed the criticality of connectivity in this border state, acknowledging past challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cManipur has always faced difficulties due to inadequate roads, which is why, since 2014, I have prioritized improving Manipur\u2019s connectivity.\u201d He also mentioned that in recent years, Rs 3,700 crore had been allocated to National Highways in Manipur, with ongoing projects worth Rs 8,700 crore advancing rapidly.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
