I<\/span>n a harrowing incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, Dibrugarh police apprehended two individuals on Tuesday in connection with the mob lynching<\/a> of a young man, who was suspected of being involved in goat theft. The accused, identified as Lakhindra Bhakta and Sanjib Munda, are facing serious charges following the violent confrontation that unfolded at the Hatigarh Bokpara Division of the Bokul Tea Estate.<\/span><\/p>\n The incident occurred on Monday around 10:30 AM when a mob of enraged locals attacked two young men, accusing them of stealing goats. Witnesses report that the situation escalated quickly, resulting in severe injuries to one of the suspects, who tragically died at the scene. The other victim, identified as Jyotirmoy Hazarika from Boiragimoth, is currently receiving treatment at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) and remains in critical condition.<\/span><\/p>\n According to police officials, the two alleged thieves arrived on a scooter and were apprehended by local residents, who acted on suspicions of theft. In a frenzy of mob justice, they were brutally assaulted, and their vehicle was set ablaze. \u201cOne of them died on the spot due to severe injuries,\u201d a police spokesperson stated, highlighting the tragic turn of events.<\/span><\/p>\n In the wake of the incident, law enforcement officials have taken proactive measures to investigate the case thoroughly. A total of six individuals were initially detained for questioning, leading to the eventual arrest of Bhakta and Munda.
