Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Bhupen Kumar Borah<\/span><\/strong><\/a> has filed a formal complaint against an ongoing social media campaign that aims to discredit him. The alleged audio clip, shared on various platforms, attempts to link him to a money demand in the coal trade, a claim he vehemently denies.<\/span><\/h4>\n

According to the FIR lodged at Hatigaon Police Station, certain individuals are involved in a conspiracy to defame, malign, and blackmail Borah by circulating an unauthorized recorded conversation. The audio clip allegedly involves an exchange between two unidentified individuals, mentioning Borah\u2019s name in relation to a financial demand from a coal trader. However, Borah has categorically denied any involvement in such dealings, emphasizing that the audio clip is a deliberate attempt to undermine the Congress party\u2019s anti-coal syndicate operations in the state.<\/span><\/p>\n

Borah believes that the move is a politically motivated conspiracy aimed at tarnishing his public image and weakening his commitment to the ongoing fight against the illegal coal syndicate. The incident comes amidst rising political tensions in Assam ahead of upcoming elections, further fueling the heated debate surrounding the alleged coal syndicate operations.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Congress leader named Likhan Kumbang as the individual responsible for sharing the clip and requested legal action under the Information Technology Act, 2000. Borah urged the police to launch an investigation and register a case under the appropriate sections of the law, claiming the audio clip was uploaded to blackmail and discredit him. The FIR stressed the need for immediate intervention to halt the spread of fabricated content, citing that it threatens to undermine the credibility of the Congress party.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Hatigaon Police have confirmed receipt of the complaint and begun a preliminary verification process. There is currently no update on any actions taken or charges filed against Kumbang. <\/span><\/p>\n
