T<\/span>he Guwahati Municipal Corporation<\/a> (GMC) has announced that the city\u2019s water supply will be disrupted from March 23 to March 24, 2025, as part of a maintenance operation to replace an H.T. pole at the Panbazar Water Treatment Plant, in collaboration with the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL). The work is expected to be completed within 48 hours, after which the water supply will resume as usual.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The notice affects several areas, including Panbazar, Fancy Bazar, Athgaon, A.T. Road, Chatribari, Paltanbazar, Rehabari, Kacharibasti, B. Barua Road, Ulubari, Gandhibasti, South-Sarania, Lachit Nagar, Bhangagarh, Rajgarh, and Pub-Sarania. Consumers are urged to bear with GMC for this unavoidable situation, and the corporation apologizes for any inconvenience caused.<\/span><\/p>\n

To mitigate the impact of the disruption, GMC is offering a helping hand in transitioning to alternative water supply arrangements. The corporation will cover the full cost of \u20b99,500 per connection for all applicants, including ration card holders, who apply for a Jal Board connection before June 30, 2025. This gesture is intended to assist consumers in navigating the switching process and avoid potential inconvenience once GMC\u2019s water supply services are discontinued.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a reminder, GMC will permanently discontinue its water supply services in areas covered by the Jal Board\u2019s JICA-assisted water supply project from July 1, 2025. This move is aimed at ensuring a more efficient and sustainable water supply system, and GMC is committed to supporting its consumers throughout this transition. With the corporation\u2019s assistance, residents can breathe a sigh of relief and start looking forward to a smoother, more reliable water supply experience.<\/span><\/p>\n
