Assam CM Launches Development Projects to Preserve Sattra Culture<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

During his visit, Sarma began at Patbaushi Srimanta Sankardeva Than, participating in religious rituals before initiating development work. He laid the foundation stones for infrastructure projects at both Patbaushi Srimanta Sankardeva Than and Shri Shri Dev Damodar Guru\u2019s Adi Dham Patbaushi Sattra. These sites are integral to the spiritual and cultural legacy of Vaishnavite saints Srimanta Sankardeva and Damodar Dev.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Chief Minister announced a Rs 10 crore project for the infrastructural development of Patbaushi Sattra, followed by the foundation stone-laying ceremony for a Rs 7 crore development project at Chinpara Bhithita, where Srimanta Sankardeva is believed to have first set foot in Barpeta. The Assam government\u2019s efforts aim to safeguard the heritage of these sacred sites, ensuring their preservation for future generations. Historically, Srimanta Sankardeva spent a significant part of his life at Patbaushi Sattra, composing many of his literary and devotional works.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to sources, Srimanta Sankardeva spent a substantial portion of his life at Patbaushi Sattra, producing many of his literary and devotional works. Additionally, Damodar Dev, a prominent disciple of Sankardeva, founded Patbaushi Sattra and attained Vaikuntha Prayan (spiritual salvation) there. The government\u2019s initiatives will not only enhance the infrastructure but also help preserve the cultural and spiritual significance of these sites for future generations to come.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the Chief Minister laid the foundation stones, he emphasized the importance of preserving the cultural heritage of Barpeta. His words echoed the sentiment of the locals, who are proud of their rich legacy and keen to see it thrive for generations to come. The projects, worth a total of Rs 17 crore, are expected to be completed within a year. The state government\u2019s efforts will undoubtedly go a long way in preserving the spiritual and cultural heritage of the region and keep it alive for future generations to cherish.<\/span><\/p>\n
