In a major diplomatic and humanitarian coup, the Indian government successfully secured the release and repatriation of 283 Indian nationals from Myanmar on Monday. These individuals had been lured to Southeast Asia with fraudulent job offers, only to be forced into cybercrime and other illegal activities in scam centers along the Myanmar-Thai border<\/span><\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/h4>\n

According to a press release from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Indian embassies in Myanmar and Thailand worked in close coordination with local authorities to facilitate the repatriation. <\/span><\/p>\n

A special Indian Air Force aircraft was deployed to bring the 283 nationals back to India from Mae Sot, Thailand. This marks the latest effort by the Indian government to combat human trafficking and cybercrime rackets in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n

The MEA reiterated its earlier advisories, cautioning Indian nationals to exercise extreme vigilance when responding to unsolicited job offers from unknown sources.<\/span><\/p>\n

It emphasized the importance of verifying the credentials of foreign employers through Indian missions abroad and thoroughly checking the background of recruiting agents and companies before accepting any job offers. The government has repeatedly warned Indian nationals about the risks involved in responding to such fraudulent job offers.<\/span><\/p>\n

The repatriation was made possible through the collaboration of Indian authorities, Myanmar\u2019s Union authorities, and local groups in the Myawaddy area, where many of the victims had been held. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Indian Embassy in Myanmar highlighted the successful operation on its official Twitter handle: \u201cIn coordination with Myanmar\u2019s Union authorities and local groups, 283 Indian nationals at scam compounds in the Myawaddy area of Myanmar were released and repatriated yesterday through Mae Sot in Thailand. We strongly reiterate our advice against such job offers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This development comes on the heels of the repatriation of eight more Indian nationals from a group of 19 foreigners, who were deported from Myawaddy scam centers to Mae Sot, Thailand, on February 11. <\/span><\/p>\n

So far, a total of 133 Indian nationals have been released from these centers. The Indian Embassy in Myanmar reemphasized the government\u2019s warning against job offers in the area, urging Indian nationals to be cautious and vigilant when considering job opportunities abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
