The Centre reimposed AFSPA in Manipur last November, citing ongoing ethnic violence and declaring the entire state as \u201cdisturbed\u201d to facilitate security operations. Protesters argue that the act perpetuates unrest and have accused it of undermining fundamental human rights and allowing for continued human rights abuses across the region. Banners and placards reflected these sentiments, calling for AFSPA\u2019s complete withdrawal not only from Manipur but from other northeastern states.<\/span><\/p>\n
