This decision was officially announced by Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, during a recent land distribution event in Taralangso, Diphu.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Ronghang, who was the chief guest at the gathering, disclosed to the media that these Kukis had crossed into Karbi Anglong seeking refuge. He confirmed that discussions were ongoing with the displaced individuals in the district and that arrangements were in place for their return. “We are covering their travel expenses,” he stated, highlighting the council’s commitment to facilitating a smooth transition back to their homeland.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Despite the repatriation of these 700 Kukis, Ronghang noted that there are still around 600 to 700 Kuki families residing within the council’s jurisdiction and in the Borjan area. To address concerns regarding the identity of these families, the Karbi Students’ Association and Kuki organizations have been tasked with consulting village elders to verify the identity documents of those remaining.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"During the same event, the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council launched the ‘Purthimi Akemang’ scheme, distributing land pattas to nearly 10,000 families across the Lumding, Dhansiri, and Singhason constituencies under the Diphu Assembly. This initiative aims to promote stability and foster community ties in a region that has historically experienced ethnic strife.<\/span><\/p>\n

During his address, Ronghang stressed the importance of coexistence among all communities living in the district. “We must work towards harmonious living,” he declared, reflecting on the history of ethnic conflicts in the area. He assured attendees that under the current BJP administration, there have been no reported communal conflicts, a claim that underscores the government\u2019s efforts to maintain peace.<\/span><\/p>\n

Looking ahead, Ronghang announced plans for an extensive land distribution initiative in the coming year, stating that an additional 100,000 people would be granted land pattas. This proactive approach is aimed at ensuring land security and stability for the residents of Karbi Anglong.<\/span><\/p>\n

The land distribution event was well-attended, featuring key political figures such as Diphu MLA Bidyasing Engleng, Howraghat MLA Darsing Ronghang, Baithalangso MLA Rupsing Teron, and former MP Horen Singh Bey, alongside various executive members and representatives from the Karbi Anglong Autonomous council. Their presence highlighted the collaborative effort to build a more inclusive and peaceful community in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n
