I<\/span>n a tragic turn of events, a 60-year-old woman was brutally murdered on suspicion of being a witch in the Aurangajuli Tea Estate, located in the Udalguri<\/a> district of Assam. The horrifying incident took place around 11 PM last night in the Sayabosti area under the jurisdiction of the Paneri Police Station.<\/span><\/p>\n According to local sources, the victim, identified as Poniya Orang, was attacked by a group of around 30 individuals. The mob, led by Jaki Kharia, Jerem Kharia, Sunil Kharia, Lula Kharia, and Jeme Kharia, allegedly assaulted her with axes and other sharp weapons, culminating in her untimely and violent death.<\/span><\/p>\n This brutal incident has left the community in shock and disbelief. Eyewitnesses report that the mob descended upon Poniya Orang’s residence late at night, accusing her of practicing witchcraft. Despite her pleas for mercy, the frenzied attackers showed no compassion, ruthlessly ending her life. The gruesome act has once again highlighted the deep-rooted superstitions that plague parts of rural India, leading to such extreme measures.<\/span><\/p>\n The Paneri Police Station has already made significant strides in the investigation. Three suspects\u2014Jeme Kharia, Lula Kharia, and Sunil Kharia\u2014have been detained in connection with the murder. The police have assured that the investigation is ongoing and that they are committed to bringing all perpetrators to justice.
