Assam Chief Minister <\/span>Himanta Biswa Sarma<\/a> attributed the rise in crimes like the Dhing rape to areas where indigenous Assamese people have become minorities. “Crimes like this have increased in regions where indigenous Assamese are minorities. We must identify our real enemies,” Sarma stated, stressing the need for increased vigilance in these areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

The shocking incident in Dhing involved three unidentified men who reportedly arrived on a motorcycle, subsequently attacking and raping a minor girl as she was returning from tuition. The assailants abandoned the victim in a forest, where she was later discovered by locals. She was immediately rushed to Dhing FRU and later referred to Nagaon for further treatment due to her critical condition.<\/span><\/p>\n

In response to the crime, the Dhing Regional Students\u2019 Union has called for a complete shutdown of the area until the remaining suspects are caught. Shops, markets, and educational institutions will remain closed, with police and paramilitary forces deployed for security.<\/span><\/p>\n

Assam Director-General of Police GP Singh visited Dhing, affirming that the perpetrators will be brought to justice. “We will crack the case and take it to its logical conclusion,” Singh assured, pledging the police\u2019s unwavering commitment to the safety of women and girls.<\/span><\/p>\n

This incident has deeply shaken the state and underscored the urgency of addressing crimes in vulnerable areas, highlighting the need for concerted community and law enforcement efforts.<\/span><\/p>\n
