A graduate of the prestigious Shanti Niketan in West Bengal, Gogoi was renowned for his exceptional artistic talent. His education and innate skills earned him a respected status within the art community. He was not only celebrated for his own artistic contributions but also for his role in nurturing future artists. Gogoi founded Kala Niketan, a fine arts school in Lakhimpur, where he inspired a new generation of talent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Moreover, Gogoi\u2019s creativity extended to designing postal stamps for the Department of Posts, adding another dimension to his artistic legacy. His contributions were deeply intertwined with Assam\u2019s cultural heritage, rooted in his illustrious lineage as a descendant of Lachit Borphukan, the revered Ahom general known for his victory against the Mughals in the Battle of Saraighat.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gogoi\u2019s dedication to the arts was notably recognized by former President APJ Abdul Kalam, who personally acknowledged Gogoi\u2019s commitment during a hunger strike protesting the closure of a prominent art and culture institute.
