On Thursday , Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tuliram Ronghang, inaugurated the second edition of the Amrit Vriksha Andolan at Bakrit in Taralangso<\/a> near Diphu. The movement, aligning with the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,”<\/strong><\/span> aims to foster environmental conservation and community participation. The initiative will span from August 1 to August 15 and is a collaborative effort involving the Assam Government’s Department of Environment and Forests, the Karbi Anglong District Administration, and the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The inauguration ceremony commenced with the symbolic planting of a tree sapling, setting the tone for the two-week-long movement. The event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Chairman Raju Tisso, MLA Bidyasing Engleng, District Commissioner Nirola Phangchopi, as well as multiple Executive Members (EMs), Members of Autonomous Council (MACs), and departmental officers and staff. Their collective presence underscored the importance of the initiative and the unified effort required to achieve its ambitious goal.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a conversation with journalists, CEM Tuliram Ronghang revealed the overarching objective of the Amrit Vriksha Andolan: to plant 2 million saplings across Karbi Anglong. He emphasized that the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council would bear the entire cost of the saplings, thereby removing any financial burden from the participants. This commitment reflects the council’s dedication to environmental sustainability and community-driven action.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tuliram Ronghang also called upon people from diverse walks of life to actively participate in the movement. He urged residents to plant saplings in educational institutions, various establishments, and even within their personal premises. This collective effort aims to create a greener, healthier environment, fostering a sense of responsibility and unity among the district’s inhabitants.<\/span><\/p>\n
