B<\/span>ased on specific intelligence about illegal arms trading by unidentified individuals in Karbi Anglong within the jurisdiction of Diphu Police Station<\/a>, a directive from the Superintendent of Police of Karbi Anglong led to the initiation of a special operation on the evening of Saturday, February 24, 2024. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Sri Nayan Moni Barman, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), Inspector JS Khobung, Officer in Charge of Diphu Police Station with his team, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Maibang, CRPF Birla, and the Commando Division. <\/span><\/p>\n

Joint Security Forces Crackdown on Illegal Arms Trade in Karbi Anglong Leads to Three Arrests and Seizure of Weapons<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

During this operation, three suspects were apprehended: (1) Nijesh Langthasa, 30 years old, son of Naresh Langthasa, from Doyapur under Dhansiripar Police Station in Nagaland, with a present address at No. 1 Dilangi under Borlangfer Police Station; (2) Manik Haflongbar, son of Manjit Haflongbar from Dimaidi in Dhansiri; and (3) Kumud, also known as Rothai Phonglo, son of the late Dolen Phonglo from Adarsha in Dhansiri.<\/span><\/p>\n

While conducting the operation, they admitted to hiding weapons within the bamboo thickets on the property of Nijesh Langthasa located at No. 1 Dilangi, Nailalong, within the jurisdiction of the Diphu Police Station. The hidden cache, wrapped in plastic, included an AK series rifle with its magazine, three .32 caliber pistols with magazines, and three live hand grenades. These items were found on Nijesh Langthasa’s premises at the specified address. <\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, two mobile phones were found and seized. A homemade firearm was also discovered and taken into custody by the officer in charge at Dhansiri Outpost. Up to this point, three individuals have been apprehended. A case has been registered at Diphu Police Station with the number C\/No 10\/24 under sections 120B\/387 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 25(1A)\/25(1)(a)\/35 of the Arms Act of 1959. An investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.<\/span><\/p>\n
