Huge quantities of heroin worth over Rs 15 crore were seized and two persons apprehended in an operation along the Assam-Nagaland border in Karbi Anglong district on Monday, police said.
Acting on specific information, a joint team of the police and CRPF intensified patrolling at 12 Mille under Dillai poli12 Mce station and while searching vehicles, seized nearly two kgs of heroin kept in 152 soap boxes, Karbi Anglong Deputy Superintendent of Police Nahid Karishma said.
Two persons, hailing from Manipur and Nagaland, travelling in the vehicle have been arrested.
The arrested duo have been identified as L Stephen Thangao and R Waipo.
The seized drugs are worth over Rs 15 crore in the international market, the police official said.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet said that in a big and smart operations, Assam police intercepted a car and recovered suspected heroin and two persons of two neighbouring states have been arrested.
