Starting from Thursday, August 1, several new rules for FASTag have come into effect. Strict policies have been implemented regarding KYC. To streamline the toll payment process and reduce traffic congestion at toll booths, the central government introduced the electronic toll collection system in 2019.

According to the new guidelines issued by the National Payment Corporation of India, updating KYC for FASTag is mandatory. The process started on August 1st. All vehicle drivers and FASTag providers must comply with these guidelines.
As per NPCI’s directive, FASTag providers need to update the KYC of all FASTags issued 3 to 5 years ago by October 31. Customers are instructed to update their KYC within the specified timeframe.
From August 1st to October 31st, FASTag service providers must comply with all terms and conditions set by the National Payment Corporation of India. Companies are required to issue a new FASTag with updated KYC for FASTags that are more than five years old, replacing them with FASTags issued within the last three to five years. To ensure a smooth process, drivers are instructed to update their KYC by October 31st.

– The registration number must be updated within 90 days of purchasing the vehicle.
– The vehicle’s registration number and chassis number must be linked with the FASTag.
