In a major breakthrough for peace and security in Assam, 39 active members of the Adivasi People’s Liberation Army (APLA) surrendered their arms to the Assam Rifles and Bokajan Police Station on June 2, 2023.

The Security Forces of Spear Corps, in collaboration with Assam Rifles under the command of Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) and Assam Police, have been tirelessly working to persuade the misguided youth who joined the insurgency to renounce violence and return to the mainstream of society.
The operation, named Samarpan, resulted in the recovery of 31 weapons, including 3 AK series Rifles, 19 Pistols, 5 other rifles, 2 Grenades, and various live ammunition. This remarkable step signifies a change of heart for these individuals who chose to embrace harmony and contribute to the welfare of their communities.
The Assam Rifles commends the brave youth who took this bold decision. They urge others who have deviated from the right path to follow their example and rejoin the mainstream, living a happier and more peaceful life.
The families of the surrendered rebels expressed their profound gratitude to the Security Forces for facilitating the safe return of their loved ones.
